About the CA Open Source Portal
The California Department of Technology (CDT) built the Open Source Portal to help state agencies work together, share ideas, and get more done with technology. It supports to build better digital services for all Californians.
Why Open Source?
When state agencies share their code, everyone benefits:
- Teamwork: Agencies can review each other's work, test for security issues, and share knowledge.
- Efficiency: Less time and money is wasted building the same thing twice.
- New Ideas: Agencies can reuse code that already works to solve new problems.
Key Benefits
- Save Money: Avoid paying for the same thing twice and rely less on outside vendors.
- Better Services: Build faster and more reliable tools for state programs.
- Learn Together: Create a culture where agencies share what they know.
The Open Source Portal is a library of code built by California state agencies and their partners. It lets agencies share, find, and reuse code to improve government services for the public.
Together, we're building smarter digital tools that make it easier for people to interact with their government.
